The Dutch Apple II was built at Scarano Boat Building Inc, in 1986. The boat is derived from popular Hudson River Dayliners of an earlier era. The dayliners plied the waters of the Hudson River ferrying passengers to and from ports along the way between Albany and New York City. In designing the boat and whenever practical, Scarano utilized wood species that are both indigenous to the region and traditional for building boats. The Result is a blend of classic styling and warm elegance.
The Cause
Some ASAP Critters:
ASAP has joined hands with a very special animal rescue, Project Drumm. This unique haven for animals is organized out of the Latham, Troy and Drumm Veterinary Hospitals and was founded by its namesake, Dr. Richard Drumm. We first heard about this amazing place for orphaned animals through some friends of ours who dedicate their time, energy, money and love to neglected, sick and homeless dogs and cats. Project Drumm has many factors that distinguish it from other rescues. Because it is run out of a full time vet hospital, Drumm can provide sick, injured animals with vetrinary care and do so directly with very little overhead. And it is important to note that Drumm is considered by all technical definitions, a NO KILL refuge. The doctors and technicians there evalute each animal and formulate a plan of care for them that takes each individual problem into account. Because of Project Drumm's dedicated staff and its medical technology and services, many animals that have no hope, have received the appopriate attention and love. But this compassion and dedication, though free to the helpless animals, is not free for Project Drumm. They take in hundreds of cases each year and need your help to continue offering these otherwise destitute pets, an opportunity of a lifetime--a chance at a new, happy, healthy and love-filled life.
ASAP would like to invite everyone to come out and support the doctors, hospital staff and volunteers who have made it part of their life mission to save the abandoned, find homes for the unwanted and bring new life to the lifeless. All the proceeds from this fundraiser go to Project Drumm. If monetary donations are not possible, Project Drumm takes supply donations of all kinds. The Albany Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy is a non-profit organization with the express purpose of encouraging others to do well by their fellow man. The society (ASAP for short) was founded in August of 2004 by nine young professionals, and has since grown to over 50 members. ASAP was started as a way to give back to the Albany area in a way that was enjoyable for all involved; to encourage philanthropy and have a good time while doing so. As the ASAP logo famously states, members are asked only to “relax and encourage”. This motto captures the ASAP ideal: that it is possible to do well by your fellow man while having a good time.
ASAP is not dedicated to any specific philanthropic endeavor. In fact, as their name states, they are dedicated instead to encouraging others to engage in philanthropic activities in the Albany area. ASAP is thus able to help those most qualified to help those who are in need.
